The College is composed of Commissioners from 27 EU countries. Together, these 27 members of the College are appointed as the Commission's political leadership for a 5-year term. It usually meets every Wednesday in Brussels. During the European Parliament plenary sessions in Strasbourg, the meeting takes place on Tuesday. The President of the Commission can call extraordinary College meetings if circumstances require, to discuss a particular topic or event.Decisions are taken collectively by the College of Commissioners based on the principle of collegiality.
