When we want to break down a string into its individual characters and store each character as an element in a tuple, we can use the tuple() function directly on the string. Strings in Python are iterable, which means that when we pass a string to the tuple() function, it iterates over each character in the string and creates a tuple where each character is an individual element.

Example:

[GFGTABS]
Python

s = "hello"  tup = tuple(s) print(tup)

[/GFGTABS]

Output
('h', 'e', 'l', 'l', 'o')

Explanation:

  • The tuple(s) function converts the string s into a tuple, where each character in the string becomes an individual element in the tuple.
  • The resulting tuple, tup is printed, showing each character from the string as a separate element of the tuple.

Convert String to Tuple by Splitting Words

To convert a string into a tuple by splitting it into words, we can use the split() method to divide the string based on spaces and then apply the tuple() function to convert the resulting list of words into a tuple.

[GFGTABS]
Python

s = "hello world python"  tup = tuple(s.split()) print(tup)

[/GFGTABS]

Output
('hello', 'world', 'python')

Explanation:

  • The s.split() method splits the string s into a list of words based on spaces.
  • The tuple() function then converts the resulting list of words into a tuple, which is stored in tuple_str and printed, showing each word as an individual element in the tuple.

Convert String to Tuple of ASCII Values

To convert a string into a tuple of ASCII values, we can use Python’s ord() function inside a generator expression or list comprehension. This function converts each character of the string into its corresponding ASCII value, which can then be stored in a tuple.

[GFGTABS]
Python

s = "hello"  res = tuple(ord(char) for char in s) print(res)

[/GFGTABS]

Output
(104, 101, 108, 108, 111)

Explanation:

  • The ord(char) function converts each character in the string s into its corresponding ASCII value.
  • A generator expression (ord(char) for char in s) creates a sequence of ASCII values, and the tuple() function converts this sequence into a tuple, which is then printed.
