Question:
In the forest, a girl encounters a lion and a unicorn. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the lion tells lies, but on the other days, he tells the truth. The unicorn tells the truth the rest of the week but lies on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The lion confessed to the girl, "Yesterday I was lying." So was I, the unicorn said. When is it today?

Solution:
Let us jot down our information in a tabular form for better clarity.

Sunday

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Lion

TRUTH

FALSE

FALSE

FALSE

TRUTH

TRUTH

TRUTH

Unicorn

TRUTH

TRUTH

TRUTH

TRUTH

FALSE

FALSE

FALSE

We conclude that:

Lion is saying the truth today and was thus lying yesterday. That gives us only one possibility for today- Thursday
Similarly, the unicorn was lying on Thursday and spoke the truth on Tuesday. So when he says that he was lying yesterday, which itself is a lie as he speaks lie on Thursday.

Case: 1
As per the question, Lion lies on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. It means that on Thursday lion is speaking the truth. He was lying yesterday (Wednesday), and this satisfies the condition of the question.
Case: 2
Also, as per the question, the unicorn lies on Thursday Friday Saturday. This means that on Thursday unicorn is lying that yesterday (Wednesday) he was lying, This also satisfies the condition given.
Hence, today is Thursday.

The answer is Thursday.
