The main goal of the BIOS is to start different hardware devices. So, if you are upgrading hardware on a large scale on your device you have to update BIOS drivers (also known as UEFI in the modern systems).

What is UEFI

UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is a modern firmware interface designed to replace the older BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) firmware standard that has been in use since the early days of personal computers. UEFI provides a more advanced and flexible way for the operating system to communicate with the hardware during the boot process, and it offers several significant improvements over BIOS.

UEFI vs. BIOS: What's the difference

FeatureBIOSUEFI
Boot ModeLegacy BIOSUEFI boot (supports both legacy and UEFI)
Boot SpeedSlower, especially on larger systemsFaster, with more efficient hardware initialization
Drive SupportCan only support drives up to 2 TBCan support drives larger than 2 TB
InterfaceText-based, simpleGraphical, more user-friendly
