Walking with Christine & Michael, up Troisgeach and over to Meall an Fhudair. The first cuckoo & lizards of the year. No deer or ravens, and eagle or two. Ptarmigan & Wheatear. Surprisingly dry underfoot and the lack of growth made for easier walking. walkmap
By the Finlas Reservoir this morning, lots of cuckoos calling.
Went for a walk round Ardinning this morning. Lots of birds singing, including the first cuckoo I’ve heard this year. Bluebells starting to appear.
I have been looking forward to this. First cuckoo I’ve heard in 2021. Ardinning this morning. Lots of other birds singing, most I can’t recognise. I did hear curlew, peewits, ravens and dabchicks on the loch.
Walking up the metalled road to the Glen Finlas Reservoir a cuckoo went ahead perching on the telephone wires. At one point it went into the grass and then flew to a rock with a large wooly bear caterpillar in it’s beak.

After working when most folk were on holiday today I took a quick walk round the Whangie this evening.
Dull overcast sky, but no wind and it has warmed to about 13 C
Heard my first cuckoos of the year. A few grouse gobbling on the moor to the north of the Whangie, this has been planted with trees so I guess grouse will get scarcer over the next few years.
