Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn had a few new things to say about his upcoming comic book movie on the red carpet at Marvel's Thor: The Dark World premiere.

Talking more about Thanos, who now-famously appeared during the post-credits tag for The Avengers, Gunn told Crave Online, "Thanos is a character in our movie... In my movie, Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film." In Guardians, we know that Ronan is played by Lee Pace. Thanos was played by Damion Poitier in the post-Avengers tease, but it's uncertain if that's still the case for Gunn's take.

Speaking to Guardians' special effects, the filmmaker explained that, like in his previous films, he's using a lot of practical effects to bring his sci-fi story to life. "We have a prison that is 350,000 pounds of steel," he continued. "Our sets are enormous. Anybody who knows me knows I love the mix of practical and CGI effects... I can't wait for people to see it, because it's astonishingly beautiful."

Now, this last bit has been reported before, but for readers gearing up for Thor 2, MINOR SPOILERS to follow...

A few weeks ago, we learned that Gunn had apparently directed a mid-credits sequence for the end of Thor: The Dark World, giving fans a glimpse at what's in store for Guardians. To that end, Gunn confirmed, "Yeah, I did [direct that]. I had talked to Kevin [Feige] about it, and we had decided on the basics of what was going to happen... It was really quick, and it was late that we decided to put it in [Thor 2] -- I mean really late. It wasn't that long ago when we shot it."

END SPOILERS.

Thor: The Dark World opens this weekend on November 8. Guardians of the Galaxy, meanwhile, hits theaters stateside on August 1.
