How can I delete my Google Workspace account without upgrading to a paid plan?

I created a Google Workspace account for my domain, but now I want to delete it completely. When I log in, the only option I see is to select a paid subscription plan, and there is no option to manage the account or delete it.

I do not want to upgrade or pay for a plan — I simply want to remove or cancel this Workspace account and free my domain from it.

Could you please explain how I can delete or cancel my Google Workspace account in this situation?

Just to clarify:

Trying to remove an end user from the domain

Or

Trying to delete the entire domain/organization?

If trying to delete the entire organization, then the article about that is Delete your organization's Google Account - Google Workspace Admin Help .

If trying to remove an end user: Delete or remove a user from your organization - Domain verified - Google Workspace Admin Help .

Same problem here, the links don’t help unfortunately because when we try to login to our google account it doesn’t let us pass the billing! The google workspace account that I created is suspended and the google primary user is now frozen because it is said to be managed by that account. It cannot be added to any other workspace account or even deleted. So weird that people have to pay for their account to be deleted, but that’s the only option I have to unlock my user that is locked to the inactive google workspace.

Does anyone know if google automatically deletes the suspended workspace accounts if they are not restored for a while?

Hello @Ammmmmy7 and @Annas

I do apologize for the issues you both are facing. I wanted to share with you that Workspace does have a community as well: https://support.google.com/a/community?hl=en&sjid=4912109162075334423-NC

A search in that community for inquiries similar to yours can be found here: Search results - Google Workspace Admin Help

Hi Amy, if you just want to free your domain from it you need to change de delegations at your DNS provider. In fact, even if you manage to delete the workspace account you will need to do that!

Hi Annas, in your case it is possible (i’m not for sure but worth a try) to recover the frozen adimin account from admin.google.com > forgot password It will ask you for details in your account and may be one of the questions include the old way of verify the domain ownership at DNS level (the standard way to do that a few years ago).

The issue you’re describing isn’t actually a bug or technical problem. What’s happening is that when you first create a Google Workspace account for your domain, Google sets it up as a trial organization. If you don’t complete the setup or add billing details, the account remains in an incomplete or suspended state.

Because of that, when you try to log in later, the Admin Console only shows options to choose a plan or upgrade — you won’t see the usual account management options like deleting the organization or releasing your domain.

In simple terms, your domain is still tied to that Workspace setup even though it was never fully activated. You’ll need to either complete the setup temporarily to access the Admin Console and cancel the subscription, or contact Google Support to remove the Workspace account and free your domain.
